Get the Facts on Nutrition

A good way to make informed, healthy food choices is to follow Canada’s Food Guide. And check the nutrition information on food labels – the Nutrition Facts table, the ingredients list, and the nutritional claims all have valuable information to help you compare products.

The Nutrition Facts table helps you choose.

Nutrition Facts

  1. Information is based on a specific amount of food. Compare this to the amount of food you eat.
  2. Use the % Daily Value to see if a food has a little or a lot of a nutrient.
  3. Choose products that contain less fat, saturated fat, trans fat, sugar and sodium.

Learn more about the information on labels by reading or downloading our information sheet on Nutrition Facts.
